Adoption has been a small consideration for us in that past but never with complete seriousness until we arrived in the Dominican Republic. After seeing the need of so many families we thought about it more but wondered how we could realistically start from babyhood again with our children already school ages. We agreed that God would really have to grow our hearts for a particular child in order for it to become a reality.
That is exactly what happened.
From the beginning stories of a desperate mom unable to feed her children, to having her rescued from an abusive foster situation, our heart began to grow bigger and bigger for Johanna. Then as we spent time with her as a family she just seemed to be at home. She seemed like one of us. Our picture felt complete. It is the desire of a mom to see her daughter find a place of hope, the desire of our heart to add another child to the fold of our family and God's placement of all of the pieces in the right place at the right time, His time, that has made us realize, yes, we want to adopt.
